George Bayless, Jr. was born in Seattle and served in the Navy 1943-46. He is a graduate of UW in Business Admin and served in the ROTC Army for six years.
He joined his father in the bindery business in 1949 and purchased Bayless Bindery in 1971. He is the past president of both the Seattle Club of Printing House Craftsman and the WA-AK Printing Industry. As a maritime history buff, he published the Maritime Atlas for 40 years and did a 500-page history of the Puget Sound ferryboat industry.
Bayless Bindery grew to 100 employees and a 45,000 square foot building in Renton. He closed the plant in 1995 and sons Bob and Tip and Dan Lowe started Puget Bindery in Kent.
George and his wife Ann now reside in Sunnyside, OR.
Oliver Iversen was born, raised, educated and worked most of his print sales career in Seattle. He started in the industry selling business forms for Reynolds & Reynolds, moved into paper sales for Soames Paper Company for many years. He then moved into print sales at Farwest/Acme and on to Graphic Arts Center, now Cenveo, retiring after 27 years as VP Sales. In 1975 he helped open the Seattle market for GAC and was instrumental in building and developing the sales group.
Rod Olzendam was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Canada and lived in Geneva, Switzerland in his youth, before moving to Tacoma as a high schooler. He attended the UW and served in WWII. On his return, he worked his way up to president of Acme Press and later sales manager of Craftsman Press. He served two terms as president of PPI and in 1962 was named Printer of the Year in the World's Fair and 3M Printer of the Year for the entire US. He and his wife, Delores, have four children and seven grandchildren.
Bruce A. Walker is retired Chairman of the Board and a former 50% owner of Valco Graphics, Inc. Before joining Valco in 1987, Mr. Walker represented Anderson Lithograph of Los Angeles in the Pacific Northwest market for four years. Prior to that he had a 24-year career with United Graphics, Inc. in Seattle. (Later purchased by Banta Corporation) where he resigned in 1983 as president.
Mr. Walker is a native of Seattle, graduating from the UW with a BA degree in 1956. From 1956 to 1959, he served as a pilot in the US Air Force until he was honorably discharged.
